    How does this instillation happen?

    Are they exploiting zero days to somehow force the phone to install an app unbeknownst to the user? Are they physically stealing the phone while the user is unaware, installing software, and then returning the phone?

    I don't even know how spyware ends up installed on a modern phone without the users knowledge.

      Judging by the past, probably zero days. Presumably they’re also using stingray type devices to further surveil or provide additional attack vectors.

      My sources say that phones can be confiscated when entering “scif” like environments and the software is installed upon the phone being returned as well.
