I think all this shows is the either/or thinking of "left"/"right" or "woke"/"unwoke" are inadequate and Gen Z is much more complex than originally believed to be. Either party believing they have "captured" this generation is mistaken. That's how I interpret these results.
In other words, if you believe their position on gun control and climate change have changed, then I believe you're mistaken. I've come around to the thinking their intention to fix things is to break the system that caused these things in the first place - and Donald Trump is the man promising to break the system. I don't think they believe Donald Trump has the solutions, that's not what they've hired him for: he's been hired to break things. From Gen Z's perspective, what have they got to lose?
